Adult Book Reviews

The Ocean County Library has a vast collection of books to choose from. We’re asking our Adult Volunteers to help provide peer reviews of titles available in OCL’s Large Print and/or Audio collection.

Interested? Here’s what you’ll need to do:

  • You will need to submit an Adult Volunteer Application to your local branch before you can complete book reviews. We recommend you speak to your local adult librarian for ideas on what books to read.
  • Read a fiction or non-fiction book, with the following requirements:
    • The title must be owned by the Ocean County Library
    • The title must have been published in the last 3 years.
  • After you’ve read your book, tell us what you think
    • Fill out the Adult Book Review Form. Remember you are writing a review for your peers! Give them enough information to help make a decision about choosing the book, but NO SPOILERS!

Important Things to Remember:

  • We want you to enjoy reading and help us promote our awesome vast collection.
  • The book you choose must be a book published no more than 3 years ago.
  • The books you review must not be current Best Sellers.
  • You will receive 5 volunteer hours per book read and reviewed.
  • You can submit up to 3 book reviews per month, for a total of 15 volunteer hours per month. Please do not submit all reviews at one time or more than one per day.

Please note that the Ocean County Library reserves the right to accept, decline and/or edit any reviews for space and content purposes.
