Art by Rosemary Lynch & Liz Higgins On Display at Ocean County Library Jackson Branch

September 05, 2023

JACKSON TOWNSHIP – Acrylic paintings and charcoal sketches by Ocean County residents Rosemary Lynch and Liz Higgins will be on display throughout the month of September at the Ocean County Library Jackson Branch.

In a “Meet The Artist” profile on OCL’s YouTube channel, the pair related that they struck up a friendship at the Crestwood Village Art Guild in Whiting, and continue to offer each other encouragement and constructive criticism.

Liz said that she favors acrylics for the medium’s bold tones and properties that allow her to seize an inspiration. “The colors are right there,” she said. “I don’t have to worry about tone. I can get in there, do it and move on.”

Rosemary funnels creativity into acrylics and charcoal sketches. “I like the flexibility of being able to smudge, and smear, and blend,” she said, adding that charcoal allows her to accent her subjects’ features.

Individually and together, Rosemary and Liz have staged exhibits at the OCL Whiting Reading Center, Crestwood Village Art Guild, Ocean County College, and venues from Forked River to Manasquan.

The exhibit is free and open to the public during normal Branch operating hours. For more information, visit the OCL Jackson Branch, 2 Jackson Drive, or call (732) 928-4400.
