STAFFORD TOWNSHIP– The literary career of Ocean County’s Casey Masterson is off and running, following her appearance before an avid audience in the Ocean County Library Stafford Branch on Thursday, September 7, to discuss her debut novel, Revelations of the Raven Master.

Revelations is a series of stories centered on the character of the Raven Master and the birds that he tends, based on the real ravens that occupy the Tower of London.

According to myth, if the nine ravens depart, it would mean the destruction of the Tower and the British kingdom. The Raven Master’s purpose is to protect the winged creatures.

In Casey’s interpretation, the Raven Master keeps deep, dark secrets along with the “regal but, at times, evil birds.” A gifted storyteller, he entices the ravens to remain by weaving spellbinding, macabre tales.

Casey, a staffer in the Ocean County Library system, engaged in a question-and-answer period, elaborated on creating compelling characters, described her journey to a life in literature, and signed copies of her novel.
