Explore Historic and Modern Sweden at the Ocean County Library Long Beach Island Branch

October 26, 2023

SURF CITY – Sweden’s role in early South Jersey settlement is only one fascinating aspect of this influential Scandinavian nation. Take a glimpse into Swedish traditions and modern life and create a specially-themed craft, 10 AM Wednesday, November 15, at the Ocean County Library Long Beach Island Branch.

Join us for an exploration of the customs, technology, environmental awareness, and holiday celebrations that distinguish Sweden on the world stage.

The discussion will include a look at Sweden’s Lucia celebration, a 400-year-old December tradition that spreads joy through processions and carols that take place in schools, offices, churches, assisted living centers, and national television.

Create your own Swedish paper heart, which can be a festive holiday decoration or a special gift.
