Ocean County Library Long Beach Island Branch To Feature Art by Nadine Yura during November

October 26, 2023

SURF CITY – The Ocean County Library Long Beach Island Branch is pleased to display oil paintings, watercolors and charcoal sketches by award-winning local artist Nadine Yura throughout the month of November.

“Summer Retrospective,” is a collection of work from summers past and present that evoke the feeling of being “down the shore.”

The Barnegat resident’s impressionistic and sometimes abstract interpretations have been shown in group and solo exhibits, juried competitions and art shows throughout New Jersey and Pennsylvania since 2003. A growing number are in private collections.

Nadine’s works have captured awards given by the Pine Shores Art Association, Bergen (County) Music & Art Festival, and LBI Foundation for the Arts and Sciences.

As she relates on her website, as a child, Nadine found little challenge in coloring books and began drawing her own figures to color, bolstered by supportive parents and family.

Progressing rapidly through her teens, Nadine entered Rutgers University and sharpened her technique and defined her individual style with the help of Professors Lloyd McNeill and Ibrahim Noor Shariff.

Nadine continues to draw inspiration from artists including McNeill, Georgia O’Keeffe, Maggie Siner, and Pablo Picasso.

The exhibit in the meeting room is free and open to the public during normal Branch operating hours. For more information, visit the OCL Long Beach Island Branch, 217 South Central Avenue, Surf City, or call (609) 494-2480.
