Visit Barnegat’s Colorful Past: ‘Homeschool History’ at the Ocean County Library Barnegat Branch

November 06, 2023

BARNEGAT – Youngsters aged 7 to 10 can learn about the origins of Barnegat Township during “Homeschool History: The History of Barnegat,” 10 AM Friday, December 8 at the Ocean County Library Barnegat Branch.

Barnegat Historical Society member Jamey Stofko will shed light on the township’s Lenape roots, the occupations that helped it grow, how children lived, the evolution of the downtown area, and of course, Barnegat Pete, the township’s famous deer.

A township resident for nearly 40 years, Jamey has served in several leadership roles for the Barnegat Historical Society Museum. Her tours of downtown and the Museum have been learning experiences for homeschool groups, hiking clubs and Scout troops.

The former pediatric occupational therapist for the Manchester Township Public Schools holds degrees from Glassboro State College (now Rowan University) and Georgian Court University, Lakewood, and is also a registered yoga instructor at Barnegat’s Hanu Yoga and Holistic Arts Studio and at Georgian Court University.
